Woman caught with cache of ammunition in Katsina

A woman identified as Aisha Abubakar was apprehended by security forces for transporting ammunition to terrorists in Katsina State.

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who disclosed this in a report on Monday, June 24, 2024, said the authorities discovered the ammunition in her luggage during a routine search aboard a state government-owned mass transit bus at the weekend.

She initially denied involvement but later confessed to transporting the ammunition to a terrorist group from Nasarawa state.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that she was heading to Yan Tumaki in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina.

In a video circulating online, the suspect claimed she was pushed by hunger to accept the illegal task of serving as a courier for bandits.

“I have never done this before. Hunger pushed me,” she said.

The woman further claimed that a stranger had entrusted her with the ammunition.

“I don’t know what it is,” she claimed. It was given to me by a man. I don’t know him, his name or where he lives.

“The incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and the importance of vigilance in preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons,” Zagazola added.
